A mystical tale lies behind this striking piece. Inspired by the so-called “fingernail mushrooms” of Korean folklore, the artist once again draws from the legends told by her grandmother: “She used to tell me never to cut my nails at night, because a mouse would come to eat them—and I would turn into it.” The work channels this deeply rooted symbolism of family protection and North Korean tradition.
